**Madurai, November 2, 2024:** Catholic families in Madurai observed All Souls Day on Saturday, with scores visiting cemeteries across the city to offer prayers for the departed.
The tradition of All Souls Day recognizes the belief that prayers can aid those in purgatory and pave their way to Heaven. Believers paid their respects by lighting candles, placing flowers and wreaths on graves, and cleaning up the burial sites. Special masses were also held in churches throughout the city.
Cemeteries in Mahaboobpalayam, Kalavasal, Karpaga Nagar, Thuvariman, and other locations saw a large turnout of mourners, all united in their remembrance of loved ones.
