Sat Nov 02 21:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Gators QB Graham Mertz Recovering Well After ACL Surgery

**GAINESVILLE, FL** – Florida Gators quarterback Graham Mertz, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear in his knee during the team’s October 12th game against Tennessee, underwent successful surgery eleven days later.

Teammate and close friend Chimere Dike provided an update on Mertz’s recovery this week, highlighting his positive attitude and determination. “Graham is doing good,” Dike said, “He’s handling it better than I would. His character is something I’m really proud of him for. He’s definitely attacking this challenge and growing from it.”

The two have been friends since their days playing together at Wisconsin. Mertz had a standout year in 2022, leading the SEC in completion percentage and fewest interceptions. He was also on track for a strong 2023 season before the injury.

Despite the setback, Mertz remains a positive influence in the locker room, offering support to his teammates and especially to freshman quarterback DJ Lagway. He also expressed his hope to be available for Florida’s pro day next spring, something Dike said would be a “really cool experience.”

While Mertz focuses on his recovery, the Gators are gearing up for their rivalry game against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. The team will be looking to secure a win and maintain their momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
