Sun Nov 03 16:03:16 UTC 2024: ## BJP to Protest Waqf Land Issue in Mysuru

**Mysuru, November 3, 2024:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mysuru will hold a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday, demanding the State government address concerns regarding Waqf land claims.

The protest follows the recent controversy over notices issued to farmers claiming their land belonged to Waqf properties. BJP leaders, including city unit president L. Nagendra, allege that these claims are baseless and causing widespread confusion among farmers. They point out that the Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, only intervened to withdraw the notices after the BJP raised the issue and took to the streets.

The BJP argues that changes in land records are suspicious and demand that the government retract all changes made to the farmers’ records. They also criticize the legality of Waqf Adalat being conducted by Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan across districts, accusing it as an attempt to grab land before the Centre introduced amendments to the Waqf Act.

Mr. Nagendra further challenged Minister Khan, who had stated that even Waqf property has been encroached upon, 90% of it by Muslims, to take action against the encroachers. The BJP vows to fight tooth and nail against any attempt to claim farmers’ land and will continue their agitation to ensure that not an inch of land is lost to Waqf claims.
