Sat Nov 02 21:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Japanese Horses Make a Run for the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic

Del Mar Racetrack will host the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic this Saturday, featuring a trio of Japanese contenders: Forever Young, Ushba Tesoro, and Derma Sotogake. While Irish-trained City of Troy holds the favorite spot at 5-2 odds, Forever Young sits at 6-1, followed by Ushba Tesoro at 12-1 and Derma Sotogake at 20-1.

This marks the first time since 2021 that Japanese horses have competed in the prestigious race. Loves Only You, a Japanese horse, made history in 2021 by winning the Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Horse racing expert Jody Demling, known for his accurate predictions in past races, is offering his expert insights on the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic. He is surprised by the odds on Fierceness, a three-time Grade 1 winner, considering his recent inconsistent performances.

Demling, however, is backing the experienced Ushba Tesoro, who boasts seven wins out of nine starts on dirt tracks. Despite being an underdog at 12-1, Ushba Tesoro’s track record makes him a strong contender for the win.

Demling has also identified a longshot horse with a significant chance to pull off an upset, and he is sharing his complete picks and predictions for the race at SportsLine.

With the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic set to kick off at 5:41 p.m. ET, fans are eager to see which horse will claim victory.
