Fri Nov 01 21:08:36 UTC 2024: ## Modi Slams Congress for “Fake Promises,” Kharge Counters with Accusations of “Lies and Deceit”

**New Delhi, November 1, 2024:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing them of making “unreal promises” to the public and failing to deliver. His remarks come in the wake of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge advising party units to make only fiscally feasible pledges.

“The Congress Party is realizing the hard way that making unreal promises is easy but implementing them properly is tough or impossible,” Modi posted on X, highlighting the Congress’s history of making promises they couldn’t keep. He further criticized the Congress’s governance in states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, citing a decline in developmental progress and fiscal health.

Modi specifically pointed out the Congress’s “Guarantees” in these states, which he said remain unfulfilled, deceiving the people. He urged the public to stay vigilant against the “Congress-sponsored culture of fake promises” and reminded them of the recent Haryana election results where the Congress’s campaign of promises was rejected in favor of a “stable and action-driven” government.

Kharge, however, hit back at Modi, calling his accusations “lies, deceit, fakery, loot, and publicity” – the five adjectives that best describe the current government, he said. He accused Modi of a “cheap PR stunt” with the 100-day plan and claimed an RTI filed with the PMO revealed that the road map for 2047 was based on fabricated claims.

The verbal spat between the two leaders escalates the political tension between the BJP and Congress, setting the stage for a fierce battle in the upcoming elections.
