Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have announced their first three retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, opting to keep Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal.
Kohli, the highest run-scorer in IPL history, was retained for a whopping ₹21 crore. He had a stellar IPL 2024 season, scoring 741 runs at a strike rate of 154.70, including one century and five half-centuries.
Patidar, who had an impressive 2024 season with 395 runs and five half-centuries, was retained for ₹11 crore. Since his debut in 2021, he has been a valuable asset for RCB, accumulating 799 runs at a strike rate of 158.85.
Dayal, the uncapped pacer who led RCB’s bowling attack in IPL 2024, was retained for ₹5 crore. He took 15 wickets in 14 matches with an economy rate of 9.15.
RCB narrowly secured a place in the top four in IPL 2024, finishing fourth with 14 points. However, their journey ended in the playoffs with a four-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals.
The retention of Kohli, Patidar, and Dayal signifies RCB’s commitment to building a strong core for the future. The team will now look to fill the remaining spots through the upcoming mega auction.
