The Houston Texans have announced the promotion of running back J.J. Taylor from the practice squad to the active roster.
Taylor, a 26-year-old undrafted free agent out of Arizona, originally signed with the New England Patriots in 2020. He spent time on the Patriots’ active roster and practice squad before being released and later re-signed to a futures contract in January 2023. After being cut during the preseason, Taylor joined the Texans’ practice squad and has been bouncing between their active roster and practice squad throughout the season.
In three games for the Texans this year, Taylor has carried the ball seven times for 21 yards. This promotion adds depth to the Texans’ running back corps as the team continues to compete in the 2024 season.
