This Diwali, two major Bollywood releases are set to battle it out for box office dominance: Ajay Devgn’s action-packed “Singham Again” and Kartik Aaryan’s horror-comedy “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”. Both films are expected to attract huge crowds, but early predictions suggest that “Singham Again” may have a significant advantage.
According to film trade portal Sacnilk, “Singham Again” is projected to earn a whopping Rs 57 crore net on its opening day, compared to “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s” estimated Rs 41 crore. The gross box office numbers are even more impressive, with “Singham Again” potentially making around Rs 70 crore against “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s” projected Rs 50 crore.
The excitement surrounding both films is palpable. The first shows of both films are set to begin at 7 am on Friday, a sign of confidence from both exhibitors and distributors, according to film critic and trade analyst Joginder Tuteja. Both movies will be released across over 6,000 screens in India, with “Singham Again” commanding around 60% of the screens and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” taking up the remaining 40%.
Advance booking numbers further solidify “Singham Again’s” strong position. The film has already sold 2,40,683 tickets worth Rs 7.58 crore for 12,061 shows, with block seats adding another Rs 2.7 crore to the total. The top contributors to these advance bookings are the National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Pune.
“Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”, while impressive, has slightly lagged behind in advance booking. The film sold tickets worth Rs 8.89 crore for its opening day, with block seats pushing the total advance booking to around Rs 11 crore. The main contributors to these bookings are NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.
“Singham Again” features a star-studded cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor. The film revolves around Bajirao Singham and his team battling a mysterious villain named Danger Lanka to save Singham’s wife Avni.
“Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”, directed by Anees Bazmee, sees Kartik Aaryan reprising his role as Rooh Baba, a fraudster who unravels a conspiracy involving mysterious priests while facing off against a haunted castle. The film also features Vidya Balan reprising her role as Manjulika from the 2007 “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”, along with Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, and Sanjay Mishra.
With both films boasting high-profile casts, popular genres, and strong advance booking figures, this Diwali box office clash is sure to be one for the ages. Will “Singham Again” triumph over “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”? The answer lies with the audiences, but one thing is certain: the fight for box office supremacy is going to be an exciting one.
