Thu Oct 31 20:32:48 UTC 2024: ## Sporting Boss Ruben Amorim to Become Manchester United Manager

**Lisbon, Portugal** – After weeks of speculation, Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that he will be moving to Manchester United, with an official announcement expected Friday. The move comes after intense negotiations between the two clubs and follows a string of successes for the young Portuguese manager, who has guided Sporting to two league titles in the past four years.

Amorim, a former Benfica and Portugal midfielder, took over the reins at Sporting in 2020 and quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most sought-after young coaches. His impressive record, including a league title win at the age of 36, caught the attention of Manchester United, who are currently looking for a new manager following the recent departure of Erik ten Hag.

While the official announcement is yet to be made, Amorim has admitted that the deal is complete and will be finalized after Sporting’s league game against Estrela da Amadora on Friday. The 38-year-old is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with the option of a further year.

The move comes with a reported fee of €11 million (£9.2 million), with Manchester United paying an additional €1 million (£840,000) to secure an early release from Amorim’s contract. The Premier League club are also expected to compensate Sporting for the coaching staff that Amorim intends to bring to Old Trafford.

Amorim is likely to take over from interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy after the international break in November. He has stated his desire to bring a number of his trusted coaching staff members with him, including Emanuel Ferro, Adelio Candido, Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital and Paulo Barreira.

While Amorim has been tight-lipped about his future plans, he has acknowledged the difficulty of the situation and the impact it has had on his players and Sporting supporters. He expressed his desire to provide clarity for everyone involved and said that he would be able to speak freely about his move to Manchester United after Friday’s game.
