Thu Oct 31 21:01:02 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Announce Squad for ODI Series Against England, Shimron Hetmyer Makes Comeback
**St. John’s, Antigua:** The West Indies Cricket Board has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, starting October 31st. The series will mark the return of veteran batsman Shimron Hetmyer, who last played an ODI in December 2022.
Hetmyer’s comeback comes after a prolonged period of poor form. His inclusion adds much-needed experience to the West Indies batting lineup, which is aiming to bounce back from a recent 2-1 ODI series loss to Sri Lanka.
The series against England is crucial for the West Indies, as they look to stay in the race for qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup. They failed to qualify for the 2023 World Cup in India and are currently not eligible for next year’s Champions Trophy.
Captain Shai Hope will lead the team in the series, with the first match scheduled for October 31st at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The second and third ODIs will be held on November 3rd and 6th in Barbados.
