**Kochi, India** – Prominent film editor Nishadh Yusuf was found dead in his apartment in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi, on Wednesday morning. Police suspect the death to be a suicide, but the circumstances surrounding his demise are currently under investigation.
Yusuf, known for his work in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema, was a rising star in the industry. He had recently received critical acclaim for his editing in the popular Malayalam film “Thallumaala” and was set to work on several upcoming projects, including “Bazooka” and “Kanguva”.
The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors’ Union expressed deep sorrow over Yusuf’s passing in a social media post, stating, “The unexpected demise of Nishadh Yusuf, film editor, who played a major role in determining the contemporary future of the changing Malayalam cinema is not something the film world will be able to quickly accept.”
Yusuf’s contributions to the film industry extended across a diverse range of films, including “Thallumaala”, “Unda”, “One”, “Saudi Vellakka”, and “Adios Amigos”. His work was widely praised for its creativity and ability to enhance the narrative flow of films.
He was awarded the Kerala State Film Award for Best Editor in 2022 for his work in “Thallumaala.” Yusuf was a native of Haripad in Alappuzha district, Kerala, and is survived by his wife and two children.
