**Ujjain, India:** On Tuesday, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, held a special “maha pujan” (grand worship) of Lord Mahakal, led by Ujjain District Collector and Chairman of the temple management committee, Neeraj Kumar Singh. The ritual, performed annually on Dhanteras, is believed to bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to the public.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma, temple management committee administrator Ganesh Kumar Dhakad, and several priests.

Collector Singh expressed hope that the puja would bestow blessings upon the state, bringing joy and prosperity to its residents. Priest Lokendra Vyas emphasized the tradition of this ceremony, aimed at ensuring peace and well-being for all.

Dhanteras, the first day of the Diwali festival, holds significant religious importance in Hinduism. It is dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, and Kubera, who are believed to bestow wealth and prosperity. Additionally, Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurveda, is worshipped on this day.
