Fri Nov 01 03:57:03 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Cruise to Victory in Rain-Hit ODI Against England
**Antigua:** The West Indies secured a comfortable 8-wicket victory in the rain-affected first ODI against England in Antigua, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
A collective bowling effort saw England bowled out for 209, with Gudakesh Motie taking 4-41 and Jayden Seales and Matthew Forde both picking up two wickets each. Despite promising starts from England’s top order, the innings was hampered by a series of wickets, with the team failing to capitalize on a 72-run stand between Liam Livingstone (48) and Sam Curran (37).
The chase was shortened by rain to 157 runs in 35 overs. West Indies’ opener, Evin Lewis, blazed to a 94-run knock off just 69 balls, hitting eight sixes and four boundaries. He provided the backbone of the chase alongside Brandon King (30) in a 118-run opening partnership. Despite two rain interruptions, Lewis continued his aggressive approach, taking the team past 100 before falling just six short of a century. Keacy Carty finished off the chase, remaining unbeaten on 19, with the West Indies reaching the target in 25.5 overs.
The second ODI is scheduled for Sunday, February 19th, in Antigua.
