**Jammu, October 31 (UNI)** – Jammu and Kashmir Congress leaders gathered at the party headquarters on Thursday to pay floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the 40th anniversary of her death.
Led by Working President Raman Bhalla, the leaders remembered Indira Gandhi’s “supreme sacrifice” for the unity and integrity of India. Bhalla highlighted her strong and visionary leadership, emphasizing her commitment to the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden.
The leaders also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary, praising his contributions as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
During the event, various speakers recalled Indira Gandhi’s historical achievements, including the Shimla Agreement with Pakistan, strengthening the Non-Aligned Movement, and liberating Bangladesh.
Mula Ram highlighted Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s praise of Indira Gandhi’s leadership, comparing her to Goddess Durga. He stressed the importance of Congressmen upholding the principles for which she lived and died.
Ravinder Sharma addressed attempts to distort history, emphasizing the need to understand and recall the contributions of the Nehru-Gandhi leadership and the Congress Party.
