Thu Oct 31 18:28:57 UTC 2024: ## Diwali Muhurat Trading: A Glimpse of Prosperity for Investors
The Indian stock market will open for a special one-hour session on Diwali, November 1st, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, for the auspicious “Muhurat Trading”. This tradition, rooted in the belief that trading during the Lakshmi-Ganesh puja brings prosperity, has been observed for many years.
This year, both BSE and NSE will participate in the Muhurat Trading session, hoping to attract investors seeking a positive start to the new financial year. Historically, the Muhurat Trading session has shown positive returns, with the Nifty closing in the green 13 times out of the past 16 years.
Last year, the Nifty rose by 0.52%, closing at 19,525.55, with 43 out of 50 stocks showing positive performance. All sectoral indices also closed in the green, with Nifty IT leading the pack with a 0.72% growth.
While the trading volume during the Muhurat Trading session is usually lower than regular days, the market sentiment remains positive. Retail investors and institutions participate, hoping to attract good fortune for the year ahead.
Kotak Securities has recommended eight stocks for potential investment during the Muhurat Trading session, anticipating strong returns for the coming financial year. These stocks include Axis Bank, Zomato, Aadhar Housing Finance, FIEM Industries, Gravita India, Godrej Agrovet, JB Chemicals & Pharma, and SH Kelkar & Company.
