**Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh:** On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain conducted a special “maha pujan” of Baba Mahakal, seeking the blessings of the deity for public welfare, peace, happiness, and well-being.
The ceremony was led by the temple priests and attended by prominent figures including Ujjain District Collector and Chairman of the Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee, Neeraj Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP, Ujjain) Pradeep Sharma, and temple administrator Ganesh Kumar Dhakad.
Dhanteras, the first day of the Diwali festival, is dedicated to worshipping Lord Ganesha, the Goddess of wealth Mahalakshmi, and Kuber, the God of wealth and prosperity. It is considered an auspicious day to make new purchases.
The maha pujan at the Mahakaleshwar Temple is an annual tradition observed on Dhanteras to seek blessings for a prosperous year ahead.
