Thu Oct 31 10:34:38 UTC 2024: ## UK Warns Citizens Against Travel to 18 Countries Amid Middle East Tensions

**LONDON, UK** – The UK government has issued a travel advisory warning its citizens against travelling to 18 countries in the Middle East, citing safety concerns amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. The advisory, issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), specifically warns against travel to Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Israel, Libya, Iran, Lebanon, and Syria.

The advisory emphasizes that “travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against advice from the FCDO.” It also highlights the potential for rapid escalation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon, which could impact neighboring countries.

The UK government is urging travellers to stay informed through official channels and social media platforms, where they can receive updates on the situation.

The advisory follows a series of recent events, including Iran’s reported launch of over 200 missiles at Israel on October 1 and subsequent Israeli military action against Iran on October 26. The FCDO considers the Middle East to be a volatile region and urges travellers to be cautious.

In addition to the Middle East advisory, the UK issued a separate travel warning for Turkey after a terrorist attack at Turkish Aerospace Industries’ facility in Kahramankazan on October 23. The attack resulted in 5 deaths and 22 injuries, and increased security measures are now in place at Turkish airports. Travellers are advised to follow local authorities’ guidance and anticipate longer wait times at security checks.

The FCDO recommends that those travelling to the Middle East monitor local media and official updates closely, as the situation remains unpredictable.
