Thu Oct 31 01:00:57 UTC 2024: ## Veteran Media Baron Appointed as New Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board

**Tirumala:** Bollineni Rajagopal Naidu, popularly known as BR Naidu, a veteran media baron and philanthropist, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Board. The decision was announced by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who recognized BR Naidu’s successful career and commitment to Hinduism.

BR Naidu will lead the TTD Trust, which comprises 24 members including Bharat Biotech Founder and MD, Sucharitha Ella, and three MLAs: Jyothula Nehru, Prashanthi Reddy, and MS Raju.

BR Naidu is known for his unwavering commitment to Hindu culture, media independence, and social welfare. He brings a wealth of experience from his successful ventures in travel, media, and FMCG businesses.

Sucharitha Ella, a prominent figure in the pharmaceutical industry, is the Managing Director of Bharat Biotech. She co-founded the company in 1996 and oversees a wide range of operations. Ella is also active in social initiatives, serving as the Chairperson of CII – Southern Region and Indian Women Network.

The appointment of the new board comes after a long period without a governing body for the TTD. The previous board’s term ended in March, and the new government took almost four months to appoint the new board. This delay sparked concerns about the administration’s smooth functioning, as the TTD Act mandates that the recess between two board meetings should not exceed three months.

The new TTD Board is expected to play a crucial role in the administration of the Tirumala temple, one of the most important religious sites in India. With the appointment of BR Naidu and other prominent figures, the board is poised to address the challenges and opportunities facing the temple in the coming years.
