Thu Oct 31 16:46:58 UTC 2024: ## Sporting Manager Amorim Expects Clarity on Man Utd Move After Friday’s Match

**LISBON, Portugal** – Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim says there will be an official announcement regarding his potential move to Manchester United after his team’s game against Estrela on Friday.

While Amorim is expected to remain at Sporting until the upcoming international break, speculation surrounding a deal for him to take over at Old Trafford following Erik ten Hag’s sacking has intensified. While sources in Portugal, including a United board member, claim an agreement has been reached, Sporting officials insist negotiations are ongoing and no official deal has been confirmed.

“It’s a negotiation between two clubs, it’s never easy,” said Amorim. “We will have clarification after the game, it will be very clear.”

The 39-year-old manager acknowledged that the speculation has impacted his squad, but he expressed confidence in his players.

“They know me so well. I’ve proved that I’ll defend them until the last minute,” Amorim said. “But there are things I can’t control. It’s not the coach’s decision.”

The situation is complicated by financial rules at Sporting which require them to inform the Lisbon Stock Exchange of any agreement regarding Amorim’s departure.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, appointed as United’s interim manager, will hold his first news conference later today. Meanwhile, United are scheduled to face Chelsea on Sunday before the international break, during which Amorim’s future should be resolved.
