Wed Oct 30 20:25:31 UTC 2024: ## Ayodhya Celebrates Diwali with Record-Breaking Light Show and Ram Darbar Ceremony

Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, witnessed a grand Diwali celebration on Wednesday, with a spectacular display of lights and a special Ram Darbar ceremony marking the first Diwali after the completion of the magnificent Ram temple. The festivities drew global attention, highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage.

The event included two world records: lighting over 2.5 million diyas simultaneously and rotating them in unison. The city was bathed in a sea of light with diyas illuminating the banks of the Saryu River, while colorful lights from homes added to the splendor.

A grand procession showcasing scenes from the Ramayana with life-sized effigies of its characters traversed the city as part of the eighth Deepotsav festival. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the procession, pulling the chariot carrying Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman, and other characters to the Ram Darbar.

Upon reaching the Ram Darbar, Lord Rama was coronated in a grand ceremony, with Sita, Bharat, Lakshman, and Shatrughna present. The event was met with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” from the crowds. CM Yogi then performed aarti for the divine figures and sought their blessings.

Earlier in the day, CM Yogi visited the newly constructed Ramayana Gallery, a space dedicated to showcasing the life and times of Lord Rama. He was briefed on the gallery’s exhibits by tourism officials. Central Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, UP Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and state ministers Swatantr Kumar Singh and Surya Pratap Shahi were present during the visit.

The festivities concluded with the arrival of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman in Ayodhya, arriving in a “Pushpak Viman” (helicopter). They were welcomed by CM Yogi, Deputy CMs Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya.

The Diwali celebration in Ayodhya was a testament to the city’s historical and religious significance, showcasing India’s vibrant culture on a global platform.
