Thu Oct 31 05:08:24 UTC 2024: ## Sporting CP Coach Amorim Denies Manchester United Move is Imminent, Despite Release Clause Agreement

**LISBON, PORTUGAL** – Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has played coy regarding his future, denying that a move to Manchester United is imminent despite the Premier League club reportedly agreeing to pay his €10 million ($10.79 million) release clause.

Amorim, whose team recently won the Portuguese League Cup, said on Tuesday that “nothing is decided yet,” after a statement from Sporting CP confirmed that United had expressed interest in hiring him. He refused to confirm whether Tuesday’s match against Nacional was his last in charge of the Portuguese club.

“I have nothing to say now,” Amorim stated, adding that he is focused on preparing his team for their upcoming league game. “There is an intention on the part of the club [Manchester United], which is in talks with Sporting, but it will always be my decision. Talking about it now is just creating noise for the club and this whole situation.”

United, who are currently struggling in the Premier League, are looking for a new manager after sacking Erik ten Hag last week. Amorim, who has impressed with his work at Sporting, has been touted as a potential replacement due to his impressive track record and tactical acumen. He has previously worked under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, and has also been linked with other Premier League clubs including Liverpool and West Ham United.

The 39-year-old coach has won two major trophies with Sporting CP, and has earned praise from his compatriot and Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who described Amorim as a “very well-prepared” manager.

While Manchester United are eager to secure Amorim’s services, the manager has stated that he is focusing on his current role at Sporting CP. Whether he decides to move to Old Trafford remains to be seen, but his potential arrival would signal a significant shift for the struggling club.
