Thu Oct 31 15:31:52 UTC 2024: ## Manchester United Appoint Ruben Amorim as New Head Coach
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to appoint Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager will take over after the international break, joining the club on November 24th.
Amorim, who guided Sporting to consecutive league titles in Portugal, will remain with his current club for their next three matches, including a Champions League clash against Manchester City. This delay was agreed upon to ensure a smooth transition and respect for Amorim’s standing at Sporting.
United have agreed to pay a fee exceeding Amorim’s €10 million release clause, as well as additional compensation for the departure of his coaching staff. The club’s CEO, Omar Berrada, led the negotiations in Lisbon.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was appointed as interim manager following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, will remain in charge until Amorim’s arrival. Van Nistelrooy has stated his willingness to support Amorim in any capacity.
Amorim’s impressive track record, including back-to-back league titles with Sporting and a reputation for developing young talent, has made him a highly sought-after manager. His appointment is seen as a bold move by United, aiming to rebuild after a disappointing season.
The 3-4-2-1 system favored by Amorim, known for its emphasis on possession and flexible attacking, is expected to bring a new style of play to Old Trafford.
