Thu Oct 31 08:53:19 UTC 2024: ## Bengal Opener Abhimanyu Easwaran Marks 100th First-Class Appearance with India A

**Mackay, Queensland:** Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran achieved a significant milestone on Thursday, playing his 100th First-Class match representing India A against Australia A in the first unofficial Test at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay, Queensland.

The 29-year-old, who has been in exceptional red-ball form this year, was originally set to mark the milestone in a Ranji Trophy match last week, but the game was washed out without a toss being held. His stellar performance, including a recent call-up to India’s 18-member Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad, has put him in contention for a spot in the playing XI, should captain Rohit Sharma miss any of the five Tests due to personal reasons.

Easwaran has been a consistent performer for India A, making 26 appearances and scoring 1662 runs at an average of 42.61. His record includes six centuries and five half-centuries, making him one of the most prolific batsmen in the India A circuit. He has continued his impressive form since last season, scoring two fifties against Kerala and a double hundred against Bihar. He has also enjoyed a successful start to the current season, scoring two centuries in the Duleep Trophy and a massive 191 against Mumbai in the Irani Cup.

Easwaran’s overall First-Class record is equally impressive, boasting 7638 runs at an average of 49.92. He has previously been included in India’s squad for tours to Bangladesh and England, but is yet to make his Test debut. His consistent performances and current form suggest he could be in line for a Test call-up in the near future.
