Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are expected to use their Right to Match (RTM) card to retain rising Indian pacer Harshit Rana ahead of the IPL 2025 retentions, according to former India cricketer Saba Karim.
Rana, who impressed in KKR’s 2024 IPL campaign with 19 wickets, has also been included in India’s white-ball squads. Karim believes Rana is a promising young talent and a valuable asset to KKR.
Karim also highlighted the importance of retaining Caribbean players Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, emphasizing their crucial contributions to the team’s success. He lauded Rinku Singh for his “remarkable stability” and potential as a bowler.
Regarding other players, Karim suggested that Australia’s Mitchell Starc might enter the auction but may not fetch as high a bid as last year. He also mentioned Varun Chakravarthy as a strong candidate for the RTM card.
KKR, led by Shreyas Iyer, clinched their third IPL title in 2024, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad. The franchise recently appointed former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as their new mentor.
