Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated annually on the new moon day of the Kartik month. This year, Diwali will be celebrated on Thursday, October 31st. During this auspicious occasion, people light lamps, decorate their homes, prepare sweets and delicacies, and perform Diwali Puja to honor Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.

According to the Hindu calendar, the Amavasya Tithi (new moon day) begins at 3:52 PM on October 31st and ends on the evening of November 1st. The auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja falls between 5:36 PM and 8:11 PM on October 31st. The Vrishbha Lagna starts at 6:25 PM and ends at 8:15 PM. Apart from the puja, decorating homes with lights, rangoli, diyas, flowers, and fairy lights is considered auspicious on Diwali. People also clean their homes, prepare special dishes, and exchange gifts and prasad with friends and neighbors.
