Wed Oct 30 20:48:04 UTC 2024: ## Delhi LG Accuses Kejriwal of Blocking Ayushman Bharat for Political Gain

**New Delhi:** Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of deliberately obstructing the implementation of the central government’s Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. Saxena alleges that Kejriwal’s refusal is driven by political motives and a fear of exposure regarding the AAP government’s health model.

Saxena, in a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter), claimed that Kejriwal had initially recommended the scheme in 2018 but later opposed it, demanding the program be renamed to include his own name. He further criticized the AAP government’s “health model,” branding it a “web of illusion” created by propaganda.

The LG’s statement follows a similar attack by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, who accused the AAP government of prioritizing political gain over the welfare of Delhi residents by blocking Ayushman Bharat.

Meanwhile, seven BJP Lok Sabha MPs from Delhi filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court, demanding the implementation of the scheme.

Kejriwal, in response, maintained that Delhi does not require Ayushman Bharat, as the AAP government provides free healthcare and medicines to the city’s residents.

The LG’s allegations and the ongoing legal battle highlight a significant political clash over healthcare in Delhi, with both parties accusing each other of political maneuvering and prioritizing their own agendas over the well-being of the citizens.
