**Amaravati:** The Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a 24-member Board of Trustees for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), appointing TV5 Channel Chairman BR Naidu as the new Chairman. The board includes three MLAs and 20 individuals from various fields, with a majority of members hailing from outside Andhra Pradesh.
The board includes five members from Telangana, three from Karnataka, two from Tamil Nadu, and one each from Maharashtra and Gujarat. Notable appointments include retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice HL Dattu, and prominent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders Nannauri Narsi Reddy, Mallela Rajasekhar Goud, Vaidyam Shantharam, and Tammiseti Janaki Devi.
The government also included three representatives from the Jana Sena Party and three from the BJP, nominated by the central government. One more member is likely to be appointed soon based on recommendations from the state BJP.
The new board features five women members. This is the first time a retired Supreme Court Chief Justice has been appointed as a member of the TTD Board. A non-resident Indian has also been included in the board.
BR Naidu, the new Chairman, hails from a humble farming background and has risen through the ranks. He was appointed Chairman based on his dedication to serving the people and his proven track record in the media and social sectors.
The appointment of the new board is likely to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the TTD, which is responsible for managing the iconic Tirupati Balaji Temple, one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world.
