**Turin, Italy -** Billy Zane is set to bring Marlon Brando to life in the world premiere of “Waltzing With Brando” at the Torino Film Festival. The film, directed by Bill Fishman, will be the closing film of the festival and will be shown on November 30th. The film centers on Brando during the period when he was preparing for iconic roles in “The Godfather” and “Last Tango in Paris.”
“Waltzing With Brando” is based on the memoir of Brando’s architect, Bernard Judge, and tells the story of how the actor convinced Judge to build an ecologically perfect retreat on the remote island of Tetiaroa in Tahiti. The film was largely shot on the island, reflecting Brando’s passion for sustainable living.
The Torino Film Festival is celebrating the centennial of Marlon Brando’s birth with a retrospective of 24 of his films, highlighting the iconic actor’s groundbreaking naturalistic acting style and rebellious spirit. This year’s festival, under new artistic director Giulio Base, is also focusing on young directors and indie cinema.
Base is excited to have Zane and Fishman present “Waltzing With Brando” at the festival, describing Zane’s performance as “possessed by Marlon Brando.”
The festival will open on November 22nd with the international premiere of Ron Howard’s survival thriller “Eden,” starring Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, and Sydney Sweeney. The full lineup for the Torino Film Festival will be announced on November 7th.
