This Diwali, Bollywood is set for a blockbuster showdown as Ajay Devgn’s *Singham Again* clashes with Kartik Aaryan’s *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3* at the box office. Both films are releasing on November 1st, vying for audience attention during the lucrative Diwali weekend.
While the trade is buzzing about the clash, exhibitors are hoping for a “Barbenheimer” effect, where both films perform well and help recover some of the losses incurred by the industry this year. Both films have secured over 6,000 screens across India, with *Singham Again*, part of Rohit Shetty’s successful Cop Universe, dominating with 60% of the screen count.
Trade experts predict a strong opening for *Singham Again*, potentially reaching ₹40-45 crore, while *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3* is expected to earn around ₹20-25 crore on its first day.
“Both films cater to large, loyal fanbases and bring unique flavours to the screen, which should attract diverse audience segments,” said Ashish Kanakia, CEO of MovieMax Cinema, expressing optimism for a positive turn for the exhibition sector.
While exhibitors are hopeful, the clash does raise concerns. “I’m hoping for a miracle where both films succeed,” said Vishek Chauhan, a Bihar-based exhibitor, acknowledging the industry’s recent losses.
Despite the competitive environment, both films have the potential for success. “The clash between Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is going to be interesting,” said Amit Sharma, MD of Miraj Entertainment Limited. “Both films have the potential to surpass ₹1,000 crore in lifetime collections.”
Kartik Aaryan himself expressed confidence in both films’ success, stating that Diwali’s large holiday season allows for two films to run concurrently. He highlighted the contrasting genres – action for *Singham Again* and horror comedy for *Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3* – creating a unique opportunity for audiences.
This Diwali clash marks a return to the traditional Bollywood tradition of releasing multiple films during the holiday, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle for box office dominance.
