Wed Oct 30 19:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Apple Unveils Smaller, More Powerful Mac mini with M4 Chips
**CUPERTINO, CA -** Apple Inc. has announced a redesigned Mac mini, its first major update to the popular desktop computer in nearly 15 years. The new Mac mini boasts a significantly smaller footprint, measuring just 5 inches across, and is powered by the latest M4 and M4 Pro chips.
This latest iteration is less than half the size of the previous model, introduced by Steve Jobs, bringing it closer in size to an Apple TV set-top box. The compact design houses a powerful M4 processor with 10 cores for both CPU and GPU, starting at $599. A more powerful M4 Pro version, priced at $1,399, offers 12 CPU cores and 16 GPU cores.
The new Mac mini also features an updated port selection, including two USB-C ports on the front and a headphone jack. On the rear, users will find three Thunderbolt connectors (Thunderbolt 4 for M4 models and Thunderbolt 5 for M4 Pro models), an HDMI port, an Ethernet jack, and a power connector. The power button has been relocated to the bottom of the device.
Apple is also introducing separate accessories with USB-C connectors, as the Mac mini will no longer come bundled with a keyboard, mouse, or trackpad.
The new Mac mini models replace the previously available M2 and M2 Pro versions. Preorders are open now, with the new Mac mini expected to hit stores on November 8.
