**Ayodhya, India** – The holy city of Ayodhya is preparing for a spectacular Diwali celebration this year, marking the first festival after the completion of the Ram temple. The event is expected to break records with the lighting of an estimated 25 lakh diyas (oil lamps) across 55 ghats along the Saryu River, with a grand “Maha Aarti” involving over 1,100 participants.
Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, confirmed the plans and said that arrangements are in place to ensure smooth darshan (viewing) for devotees.
This year’s Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya are particularly significant as they will be witnessed by a 30-member team from the Guinness Book of World Records, who are present to evaluate the event’s potential to set two new records.
The Uttar Pradesh government is aiming to create a new record with the massive diya lighting ceremony, similar to previous attempts. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged everyone to participate in the grand celebrations.
The festivities will commence with a vibrant Shobha Yatra, featuring artists from six countries and 16 Indian states. The event will culminate with the grand diya lighting ceremony and “Maha Aarti” on the banks of the Saryu River, marking the culmination of the celebrations.
