**Varanasi, October 28:** The body of a 35-year-old man was found in a drain near the Ganges River in Molnapur village, under the jurisdiction of the Chaubepur police station. The deceased has been identified as Bablu Saroj, a resident of the same village.
According to his family, Bablu left home on Sunday evening at 6 pm to buy tobacco. When he didn’t return by late evening, they assumed he had gone fishing with a friend named Keshav in the Ganges. On Monday morning, they were alerted to his body being found in the drain. Bablu’s bicycle was discovered near the road, indicating he was likely on his way home.
The family reported that Bablu often went fishing with Keshav at night after drinking alcohol. While they insist Bablu didn’t have any enemies, visible injuries on the body have led to suspicions of foul play.
Police have reached the scene and launched an investigation with the help of the forensic team and dog squad. They are also questioning locals. The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
This incident follows several other reported crimes in the region, including drug trafficking, theft, and a fatal shooting. The police are working to apprehend the culprits and ensure public safety.
