**New Delhi, India** – Narak Chaturdashi, also known as Choti Diwali, will be celebrated on **Wednesday, October 30, 2024**, marking the second day of the five-day Diwali festival. This day, which falls on the 14th day of the dark fortnight in the Hindu month of Kartik, commemorates the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura.

According to Hindu mythology, Narakasura held 16,000 captive maidens. Lord Krishna’s triumph over the demon liberated these women, signifying the victory of good over evil.

This year, the celebration of Narak Chaturdashi will be observed in the evening (Pradosh Kaal) on October 30th, with the traditional Yam Deep lighting rituals. The Roop Chaudas bath, a ritual performed for good health and fortune, will be performed on the morning of October 31st.

Narak Chaturdashi is a day of purification and prosperity, celebrated through bathing, lighting lamps (Deepdan), special prayers, and fasting. However, certain actions are considered inauspicious on this day and should be avoided.
