Wed Oct 30 06:57:44 UTC 2024: ## Kuminga Explodes Off the Bench, Leads Warriors to Victory Over Pelicans
**SAN FRANCISCO -** Jonathan Kuminga, despite a quiet start to the season, had a breakout performance against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, leading the Warriors’ bench to a dominant win. Kuminga finished with a season-high 17 points, along with 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block, in Golden State’s 124-106 victory at Chase Center.
“Because I scored more, that’s why it seems like I had a flow,” Kuminga explained. “I did the same thing as Game 2, 3… still attacking the rim, putting pressure [on opponents]. Today things went in.”
Coach Steve Kerr opted to bring Kuminga off the bench this game, citing spacing as the reason. “I wanted a little more spacing, and I knew it would be a JK game,” Kerr said. “He’s played well against [the Pelicans] and the matchups are good for him.”
Kuminga responded by playing a season-high 28 minutes, showcasing his trademark aggressive style of play that often saw him driving hard to the basket. His performance helped the Warriors’ bench outscore the Pelicans’ reserves by a whopping 54-30.
“I thought JK was great,” Kerr said. “We’re going to need him obviously. He is our most athletic player…there’s games like tonight where we have to have him, and other games where maybe things aren’t going his way, and that’s all right.”
Kuminga himself remained unfazed by the change in role. “We have ups and downs, not every game is your game,” he said. “Today was just exactly the same, but it was one of my nights. I wouldn’t say it was my best night.”
With a long season ahead, the Warriors are hoping Kuminga can consistently bring the energy and intensity he displayed against the Pelicans.
