**Kochi, October 30, 2024:** Renowned film editor Nishadh Yusuf, 43, was found dead at his residence in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi, early Wednesday morning. The cause of death is suspected to be suicide.
Yusuf, a native of Haripad in Alappuzha district, was known for his exceptional editing skills, winning the Kerala State Film Award in 2022 for his work in the movie “Thallumala.” He recently edited the Tamil film “Kanguva,” starring Suriya and directed by Siva, which is set to release on November 14th.
His filmography also includes notable films like “Unda,” “One,” “Saudi Vellakka,” “Chaver,” “Adios Amigo,” and the upcoming “Bazooka” featuring Mammootty.
The news of his demise sent shockwaves through the Malayalam film industry. Actor Tovino Thomas, filmmaker Khalid Rahman, and scriptwriter Muhsin Parari were among those who paid tributes to Yusuf at the hospital. The Directors’ Union, affiliated with the Film Employees Federation of Kerala, condoled his passing, highlighting his significant contribution to the modern landscape of Malayalam cinema.
Yusuf is survived by his wife and children. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences on the tragic loss.
