Wed Oct 30 01:12:02 UTC 2024: ## India Women Clinch Series Win Against New Zealand With Dominant Performance
**Wellington, New Zealand:** India Women sealed a 2-1 series victory against New Zealand Women in a thrilling third ODI, thanks to a brilliant century from vice-captain Smriti Mandhana.
Chasing a target of 233 runs, India reached the winning total in 44.2 overs. Mandhana, who scored an impressive 100 runs, surpassed legendary Mithali Raj to become India’s highest ODI century-maker. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also played a crucial role, finishing unbeaten on 59 runs.
Earlier, New Zealand, led by Brooke Halliday’s 86 runs, managed to post a competitive total of 232 all out. However, their bowling effort was not enough to contain the powerful Indian batting lineup.
India’s series win comes as a welcome boost after their disappointing early exit from the recent T20 World Cup. They will now face Australia in a three-match ODI series beginning on December 5th.
Deepti Sharma was named Player of the Series for her all-round brilliance, while Mandhana was awarded Player of the Match for her century.
New Zealand, despite a valiant effort, will be disappointed with the series loss. They currently sit 6th in the Women’s Championship table, making their direct qualification for the 2025 ODI World Cup more challenging.
India’s victory highlights their experience and prowess in chasing down targets. The team’s performance was characterized by consistent batting and a disciplined bowling approach, leaving New Zealand struggling to maintain their momentum.
