Kathmandu, Nepal – Bangladesh successfully defended their SAFF Women’s Championship title with a dramatic 2-1 victory over hosts Nepal at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium on Wednesday.
The match remained goalless in the first half despite several chances for both teams. Nepal narrowly missed out on taking the lead in the 10th minute when Amisha Karki’s shot hit the crossbar.
The second half saw the game explode into life. Monika Chakma put Bangladesh ahead in the 52nd minute, but Nepal responded quickly with an equalizer from Amisha just three minutes later.
However, Bangladesh ultimately secured the victory with a stunning goal from Ritu Porna Chakma in the 81st minute.
This win marks Bangladesh’s second consecutive SAFF Women’s Championship title, having previously triumphed in 2022 with a 3-1 win over Nepal.
Despite their valiant efforts, Nepal was unable to overcome the talented Bangladesh squad, who displayed a strong defensive game and clinical finishing.
