**CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA** – Apple today announced the launch of “Apple Intelligence”, a personal intelligence system that brings a range of AI-powered features to iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The system, available through a free software update with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, leverages Apple silicon to understand and generate language and images, streamline tasks, and provide a more personalized user experience.
“Apple Intelligence introduces a new era for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, delivering brand-new experiences and tools that will transform what our users can accomplish,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
Key features include:
**Writing Tools:** Refine writing with rewrite, proofread, and summarize functions across apps like Mail, Messages, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps.
**More Natural Siri:** Experience a more conversational Siri with a new design, text input capabilities, and enhanced language understanding.
**Intelligent Photos:** Search for photos and videos using natural language descriptions and remove distracting elements with the “Clean Up” tool. Memories can now be created by simply typing a description.
**Prioritization and Focus:** Stay organized with priority emails, summarized notifications, and a new “Reduce Interruptions” focus mode.
**Enhanced Audio Capabilities:** Record, transcribe, and summarize audio in Notes and the Phone app.
**Visual Intelligence:** Create original emojis (Genmoji), turn sketches into images with Image Wand, and benefit from visual information with the new Camera Control on the iPhone 16 lineup.
**Privacy Focus:** Apple Intelligence utilizes on-device processing and a secure “Private Cloud Compute” for requests requiring more processing power. This ensures user data is never stored or shared with Apple.
“Apple Intelligence unlocks exciting new capabilities that make your iPhone, iPad, and Mac even more helpful and useful,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “And it’s all built on a foundation of privacy.”
The initial release of Apple Intelligence features is just the beginning, with more capabilities expected in the coming months.
Apple also announced an optional integration with ChatGPT, allowing users to tap into its broad knowledge within Siri and Writing Tools.
This announcement marks a significant step for Apple in the realm of artificial intelligence, offering users a range of innovative features while prioritizing privacy and security.
