Wed Oct 30 17:28:06 UTC 2024: ## Kannada Actor Darshan Granted Interim Bail in Murder Case, Released from Jail

**Ballari, Karnataka:** Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa was released from the central jail in Ballari on Wednesday after being granted interim bail by the Karnataka High Court in the Renukaswamy murder case.

Darshan, along with actress Pavithra Gowda, are accused of involvement in the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy. The High Court granted the bail on the basis of Darshan’s medical condition, allowing him to undergo surgery for numbness in both feet.

The court’s decision followed a detailed hearing where Darshan’s lawyer presented medical reports indicating the need for immediate surgery at a private hospital in Mysuru. The prosecution argued that the medical documents lacked specifics on the duration of hospitalization and suggested the surgery be performed at a government facility.

The murder case stems from the alleged abduction and torture of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga, in June. According to authorities, Renukaswamy was detained and subjected to severe physical abuse, including electric shocks, before his body was found dumped in a drain.

The prosecution alleges that Darshan and his associates targeted Renukaswamy in retaliation for derogatory messages he sent to Gowda, who has been in a long-term relationship with Darshan.

Darshan’s wife, Vijayalakshmi, performed a special prayer at Durgamma temple in Ballari ahead of his release.

The case is ongoing, with three of the 17 accused granted bail so far.
