Wed Oct 30 07:57:48 UTC 2024: ## Actor Darshan Granted Bail After Alleged Torture and Murder Case

**Bengaluru, India -** Actor Darshan has been granted interim bail by the Karnataka High Court for six weeks. The 47-year-old actor, who was arrested in June for allegedly torturing and murdering one of his fans, had sought bail on medical grounds, claiming he needed surgery due to numbness in his feet.

Justice S Vishwajith Shetty granted Darshan bail on the condition that he surrender his passport and provide details of his treatment at the hospital of his choice within seven days. While Darshan’s lawyer initially requested permission for his surgery to be performed at a private hospital in Mysuru, the public prosecutor opposed this, arguing that the medical documents did not specify the duration of hospitalization and that the surgery could be conducted at a government hospital.

Darshan, along with actress Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, was arrested in June after the body of one of his fans, Renukaswamy, was found near a stormwater drain in Bengaluru. Police allege that Renukaswamy, who had sent obscene messages to Gowda, was murdered by the group at the behest of Darshan.

A comprehensive charge sheet containing 3,991 pages, including Darshan and Gowda, was filed against 17 individuals in September. Darshan, previously lodged in Ballary jail after being transferred from Parappana Agrahara Central jail, will now be able to seek medical treatment while awaiting trial.
