Tue Oct 29 11:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Italian Tennis Players Face Mixed Fortunes at Paris Bercy
**PARIS** – Italian tennis players experienced a mixed bag of results on the first day of the Paris Bercy tournament. Lorenzo Musetti suffered a disappointing defeat to German Jan-Lennard Struff, losing 6-4 6-2, while Matteo Berrettini faces an uphill battle after losing the first set to Australian Alexei Popyrin.
Musetti struggled to find his rhythm, making numerous unforced errors, particularly in the second set. Struff, on the other hand, played aggressively and efficiently, capitalizing on Musetti’s weaknesses.
Berrettini, despite winning his first service game, was put on the back foot by Popyrin’s strong returns and aggressive play. Popyrin won the first set 6-2, leaving Berrettini with work to do if he is to advance.
Meanwhile, Matteo Arnaldi faces an exciting and uncharted challenge against rising star Holger Rune later today.
The Italian contingent will hope for better results as the tournament progresses.
