Tue Oct 29 12:19:56 UTC 2024: ## Diwali Shopping Spree Begins: Markets Dazzle with Festive Decor

With just five days left for the biggest festival of Diwali, markets are abuzz with festive cheer and shoppers. People are booking gold, silver, land, vehicles, and other items, taking advantage of the auspicious occasion. To enhance the festive atmosphere, markets across the city are being adorned with colorful decorations.

For years, the city has witnessed a tradition of decorating various markets for Diwali. This year, market associations have already started planning and implementing grand decorations, with colorful lights, banners, and installations.

The Sadar Bazaar, Balaji Market, and Subhash Market are undergoing a transformation, with elaborate decorations that promise to mesmerize shoppers. Deepak Kumar, a shopkeeper at Balaji Market, shared that several shopkeepers are enhancing their individual establishments with dazzling lights and LEDs, adding to the collective effort. Ramesh and Rajesh Kumar, involved in the decoration efforts at Sadar and Balaji markets, said that this year’s decorations feature cutting-edge technology.

The markets are expected to be fully decked out by Dhanteras, and the festive décor will persist until Diwali. Pansari Bazaar, known for its dry fruits and spices, will be adorned two days prior to Dhanteras. Vikram Kumar, a shopkeeper there, mentioned the growing popularity of dry fruit gift hampers in wooden and glass jars, offering a more sustainable alternative to cardboard boxes.

Vendors are thrilled by the enthusiasm of the public for the upcoming celebrations, ensuring that the markets will be adorned with festive decor from Dhanteras to Diwali. The markets are also adding a touch of grandeur with elaborate entrance gates featuring crystal balls and mesmerizing chandeliers.

Alongside the markets, street vendors have set up shop, offering a wide array of items for Diwali celebrations. Terracotta diyas, wicks, decorative items, and even candles are in high demand. Sapat Prajapat and Narayan Mali, street vendors, highlighted the growing popularity of wax candles. Artificial flower garlands in vibrant colors and innovative designs are also a big hit. Pottery diyas are being sold mainly by women and young girls from the potter community, while designer diyas from Gujarat, despite their higher price tag, are being sought after by many. The excitement for Diwali is palpable, and with markets adorned in vibrant hues and twinkling lights, the festive spirit is already in full swing.
