**New Delhi:** Diljit Dosanjh’s “Dil-Luminati” tour brought the Punjabi superstar back to his home country with a sold-out concert in Delhi on Saturday. Thousands of fans packed the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for the first leg of his ten-city nationwide tour.
While the concert was a resounding success, marred by traffic jams and long queues, a darker side emerged: a widespread fake ticket scam. Several fans reported being scammed by individuals selling counterfeit tickets, leaving them stranded outside the venue.
“I struggled for nine hours to get tickets online, and finally got one,” said a fan who was able to enter the concert. “But my girlfriend has another ticket, and she’s sitting on the other side. We’re in two different rows.”
Other fans, who were lured by fake tickets, were denied entry despite pleading with organizers. “It was a total waste to come here,” said one disappointed fan. “I met someone who sold me a fake ticket. They charged me a lot of money for it.”
Organizers had warned fans to only purchase tickets from the authorized seller, Zomato Live. However, despite the warning, instances of ticket reselling and hoarding persisted.
The concert itself was a spectacle, with a large crowd enjoying the singer’s performance. However, the sheer number of attendees caused major traffic congestion, leading to long delays for fans trying to reach the stadium.
“Walking the last mile to JLN Stadium for Diljit,” wrote Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, who was caught in the traffic jam and had to walk the final stretch.
The “Dil-Luminati” tour, organized by Ripple Effect Studios and Saregama India, has already shattered records, becoming the fastest-selling and highest-grossing concert event in Indian history. The tour continues across India, with stops in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, and more, culminating in a grand finale in Guwahati on December 29.
