Mon Oct 28 07:39:45 UTC 2024: ## Palakkad Court Convicts Two in 2020 Honour Killing
**PALAKKAD, INDIA – October 25, 2024:** A Palakkad court on Friday convicted two men in the sensational honour killing of Aneesh, a 27-year-old painter, that occurred on Christmas Day, 2020.
Suresh and Prabhu Kumar, the accused, were found guilty of murdering Aneesh, who belonged to a lower caste and had married Prabhu Kumar’s daughter Haritha three months prior. Prabhu Kumar, belonging to an upper caste, had vehemently opposed the marriage.
The court, presided over by Additional Sessions Court I judge R. Vinayaka Rao, determined that Prabhu Kumar and his brother-in-law Suresh fatally attacked Aneesh with an iron rod and a blade at Thenkurissi. Aneesh’s brother, Arun, who witnessed the attack, was also targeted but managed to escape. Aneesh succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
The sentence for Suresh and Prabhu Kumar will be pronounced on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
