**Hyderabad, October 28:** Raj Pakala, brother-in-law of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. T. Rama Rao, has been summoned for questioning by police in connection with a drugs case. Pakala is accused of hosting a party at his farmhouse in Janwada, where attendees were found using drugs and alcohol.
Police raided the farmhouse on the night of October 26-27, finding 21 men and 14 women present. One attendee tested positive for cocaine, and unauthorized liquor was discovered. Pakala was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Excise Act.
Following the raid, Pakala was issued a notice to appear for questioning. However, he challenged the notice in the Telangana High Court and is expected to appear before the court later today.
The FIR filed against Pakala and Vijay Madduri, who also tested positive for cocaine, includes charges under sections 25, 27, and 29 of the NDPS Act and section 3 and 4 of the Telangana State Gaming Act.
Madduri reportedly told police that Pakala had asked him to consume cocaine. He also stated that they frequently gathered for weekends and indulged in drug use and gaming.
The Excise Department registered a separate case against Pakala under sections 34A and 34(1) r/w 9 of the Excise Act, with the farmhouse supervisor, Karthik, named as the primary accused.
K. T. Rama Rao, in response to the allegations, described them as politically motivated and attributed them to the Congress government’s attempt to silence dissent against their failures and corruption.
