**New Delhi:** In a statement that will thrill fans worldwide, Indian cricketing legend MS Dhoni has confirmed he will return for another season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), participating in IPL 2025.
The veteran captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had sparked rumors of retirement after his international farewell in 2020, with fans eagerly anticipating his decision each year. However, Dhoni, known for his unwavering spirit, has consistently defied expectations, choosing to continue his journey in the IPL.
Speaking recently at a promotional event in Goa, Dhoni said, “I want to enjoy whatever cricket I can play in the remaining years.” He went on to explain that he wants to experience the joy of the game like he did in his childhood, playing without the pressure of professional expectations. “I want to enjoy the game like we used to play in the evenings, just for fun,” Dhoni added.
The former Indian captain’s decision to return to the IPL comes as welcome news for fans and his team, the CSK.
CSK’s CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, had also previously expressed confidence that Dhoni would remain a part of the team in the upcoming season.
Dhoni’s role in the team has shifted in recent years. He batted lower down the order in the 2024 IPL season after undergoing knee surgery in 2023, giving opportunities to younger players in preparation for the T20 World Cup.
However, his commitment to enjoying the game and his desire to mentor young talent have solidified his presence in the IPL for the foreseeable future.
