**Villupuram, Tamil Nadu:** Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan on Monday extended his congratulations to Tamil superstar Vijay on his foray into Tamil Nadu politics. In a tweet, Kalyan said, “My heartfelt congratulations!! to Thiru @actorvijay avl (sic), for embarking on a political journey in Tamilnadu, the land of Saints & Siddhars.”
Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, launched his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), eight months ago. He addressed his first political rally on Sunday in Villupuram, where he launched a scathing attack against the ruling DMK and the BJP, without mentioning their names.
Vijay accused the DMK of corruption and criticized the BJP for attempting to “fool the people” through “underground dealings”. He also expressed concern about the rise of fascism, claiming that the BJP tried to paint everyone who enters politics with their “saffron” ideology.
The DMK, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, has denied the allegations of corruption, stating that there is no evidence to support these claims.
In his maiden speech, Vijay outlined TVK’s ideology, emphasizing its inspiration from social justice icons like EVR Periyar and K Kamaraj.
Vijay’s political entry has sparked interest in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, with many speculating on the impact of his party, TVK, on the upcoming elections.
