Sun Oct 27 20:19:44 UTC 2024: ## Vijay’s Political Ambitions Take Center Stage at TVK Conference

**VIKRAVANDI, TAMIL NADU:** Thousands of supporters gathered at Vikravandi’s V Salai on Sunday for the first political conference of actor Vijay’s Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), signaling his foray into active politics. The event, aiming to leverage Vijay’s massive fan base, saw a sea of supporters braving the heat to catch a glimpse of their ‘Thalapathy’.

The conference unveiled TVK’s social justice agenda under the slogan “Prappokkum Yellam Uyirkkum” (All Are Born Equal), with Vijay positioned as a middle-ground alternative to the dominant DMK and AIADMK parties. This was further emphasized by the presence of large cutouts of the actor between those of BR Ambedkar and EV Ramasamy Periyar at the venue.

Vijay is expected to reveal his party’s “Kolgai Pragadanam” (Proclamation of Ideology) at the event. The conference has also sparked speculation with the presence of caravans, hinting at the potential participation of film celebrities. While participant details remain undisclosed, the event marks the official launch of TVK’s new flag, featuring a red-yellow-red design with a Vaagai flower surrounded by 28 stars and two trumpeting elephants. This replaces the previous flag, which featured Vijay’s image, and is designed to meet Election Commission standards and symbolize the party’s evolution as a statewide force.

Large posters proclaiming Vijay as the future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu were displayed across the state, fueling the anticipation surrounding his political aspirations. The massive turnout and the traffic congestion on GST Road highlight the immense support base Vijay commands.

The actor’s foray into politics comes after unveiling his party in February this year, adding a new dimension to Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, which has long been dominated by the Dravidian parties. Vijay’s entry, coupled with the BJP’s resurgence, promises a more competitive political landscape leading up to the 2026 Assembly elections.
