**New Delhi, October 27, 2024:** Arvind Kejriwal, AAP national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister, has accused the BJP of orchestrating an attack against him during a padyatra in Vikaspuri on Friday. He challenged the BJP to fight the upcoming Delhi Assembly election instead of resorting to violence.
“Yesterday, they [BJP] attacked me using their goons in Vikaspuri. If you have the strength, contest the election,” Kejriwal said during a gathering in Jahangirpuri on Saturday.
The BJP has denied the allegations, stating that their workers were merely part of a group of residents who wanted to bring the issue of poor civic infrastructure in Vikaspuri to Kejriwal’s attention. Delhi Police have also stated they have found no evidence of an attack and no complaint has been filed.
Meanwhile, AAP has escalated the issue, claiming two members of the BJP’s youth wing were behind the alleged attack. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “The level of hatred, animosity, and violence in the BJP’s politics has hit a point where they seem determined to take Arvind Kejriwal’s life.”
Kejriwal, in a bid to bolster his campaign, also promised to waive all outstanding water and electricity bills if elected to power again.
The allegations come as the Delhi Assembly election is scheduled for February 2025, setting the stage for a fierce political battle between the AAP and the BJP.
