Sun Oct 27 07:20:00 UTC 2024: ## 50 Cent Defends Past Criticism of Diddy Amidst Sex Trafficking Charges
Rapper 50 Cent has defended his past public criticism of Sean “Diddy” Combs, stating that his comments were merely observations he’d been making for years. This comes after Combs was recently arrested and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, acknowledged that his comments about Combs, often made during concerts and on social media, might seem “outrageous” in light of the recent charges. However, he insists that he was simply expressing his own perspective, having avoided similar practices throughout his career.
“Look, it seems like I’m doing some extremely outrageous things, but I haven’t. It’s really me just saying what I’ve been saying for 10 years,” 50 Cent told PEOPLE. “Now it’s becoming more full-facing in the news with the Puffy stuff, but away from that, I’m like, ‘Yo, it’s just my perspective because I stayed away from that stuff the entire time, because this is not my style.”
The feud between the two rappers dates back to 2006, when 50 Cent released the diss track “The Bomb,” accusing Combs of being involved in the 1997 murder of the Notorious B.I.G. Combs has denied these accusations.
The rivalry continued, fueled by their competing vodka brands. However, 50 Cent has stated that his comments were not fueled by personal animosity but simply observations of Combs’ behavior.
A representative for Combs declined to comment on 50 Cent’s statements.
Following Combs’ arrest, 50 Cent announced he is producing a documentary about the accusations against the music mogul.
“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” 50 Cent and director Alexandria Stapleton said in a statement. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives… While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’s story is not the full story of hip hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.”
